Charles Collins has inspired me to be more than I can in a world not unlike the spirituality found in every one of his canvases. There is a light, a fine evanescence that encompasses one when exposed to the art of Charles Collins - into this light I follow the spirit of oneness and find myself enthralled. When my work was hanging at a local gallery here in Maine, Charles Cawley, then Chief Executive Officer of MBNA America, purchased quite a bit of it (more than 30 of my oil paintings). I remember asking the gallery if they thought it would continue. I said, "He's just buying to decorate the walls, right?" "No, he is investing for the company" was their repsonse. From an artist's standpoint, it is nice to be appreciated. And knowing that my work has appreciated since, while bringing pleasure to people is an added bonus.

What a lovely informative article. Myself as a artist have always wanted to tell new collectors what you just articulated in this article. Great artwork Always goes up in value and its even better if you can get in on the cheap. All art collectors know this. But Joe the Plumper, wanting to get Fine art for his home that's decreasing in value has to be sold on unknown artist. Thanks for the great article.
