The New Art Collection at Las Vegas' CityCenter

Art At CityCenter

One of the hallmarks of a great city is great art.

The true value of art derives from the innate understanding of art's key, but often unspoken, role in many of the most important choices that we make, i.e. where to live, work and congregate. Those choices in turn propel economic activity. That explains why $40 million is being spent to create a permanent art collection at Las Vegas' CityCenter.

Of the 350 public art programs across the U.S., the average size is just under $800,000.

Las Vegas is different though. Aimed at rounding out the city's contribution to cultural tourism, and housed within an $8 million, 76-acre "city within a city," the art promenade is being designed by world famous architects and will include the large-scale art of 15 artists including Henry Moore, Nancy Rubins, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, and Frank Stella. These types of programs foster the flourishing of the arts and cultural opportunities, and ultimately result in an enhanced quality of life.
